VIASPACE Press Release
VIASPACE Energy Expands Sales into University Market with Order from University of Connecticut
07/10/2007
PASADENA, CA.-July 10, 2007-VIASPACE Inc. (OTCBB: VSPC), a company that transforms proven space and defense technologies from NASA and the Department of Defense into hardware and software solutions, announced today that it continues to increase its sales base, expanding into the University market with an order from the University of Connecticut.
The University of Connecticut is among some 400 to 500 universities in the United States and other countries actively engaged in fuel cell research and development, many through grants from federal, state and local governments, or in joint projects funded by major corporations.
The performance of hydrogen fuel cells using a Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) depends on the moisture level of the membrane. The membrane only conducts protons when it is hydrated or moist. The moisture is provided by water vapor in the incoming air or hydrogen stream. The VIASENSOR HS-1000 humidity instrument will provide real-time measurements of the amount of water vapor in these gas streams.
VIASPACE CEO Carl Kukkonen stated, "We are delighted to add the University of Connecticut to our growing list of VIASENSOR HS-1000 customers. We are aware that several hundred leading universities around the globe are engaged in some level of fuel cell research. With this new leading edge technology, the research staff at University of Connecticut will be able to utilize the HS-1000 instrument to directly measure the humidity level in real-time. This should help them more rapidly optimize fuel cell designs for various government and commercial research programs in which they may be engaged."
