Battery Expert Dr. Rachid Yazami Appointed to VIASPACE Advisory Board

BATTERY EXPERT DR. RACHID YAZAMI APPOINTED TO VIASPACE ADVISORY BOARD
PASADENA, CA -April 1, 2008-- VIASPACE Inc. (OTCBB: VSPC), a company dedicated to commercializing proven technologies from NASA and the US Department of Defense, announced today that Dr. Rachid Yazami of Caltech and CNRS of Grenoble France has joined its Advisory Board. Dr. Yazami is a world renowned battery researcher. Dr. Yazami and his team invented the Battery Electrode Health Analyzer which is produced and marketed by VIASPACE. The technology underlying the product has been exclusively licensed to VIASPACE by Caltech.
Dr. Yazami gained his graduate degree in electrochemistry at the Grenoble National Institute of Technology (INPG), He then engaged in a research project in Carbonaceous Materials for Lithium storage in batteries at LEPMI Lab where he first discovered the lithium-graphite anode in 1980, and earned a Ph.D. in 1985. In the same year he joined CNRS as a research scholar and was promoted to Director of Research in 1988. CNRS is the largest European science research organization and is run by the French government.
Dr. Yazami came to Caltech under a cooperative exchange program with CNRS and co-founded a joint CNRS-Caltech international laboratory on Materials for Electrochemical Energy. Dr. Yazami is a co-founder of CFx Battery, Inc. a startup company working on primary and rechargeable batteries based on technology licensed from Caltech and CNRS. VIASPACE CEO Dr. Carl Kukkonen stated, "Dr. Yazami is a key advisor in the implementation of VIASPACE's strategy for expanded energy products. With his assistance and advice, the new VIASENSOR BA-1000 Battery Electrode Health Analyzer has been rapidly developed from a lab model into a product. We have received extremely favorable feedback from major battery manufacturers and research labs working on lithium battery development, and initial sales of this test station have begun. We are delighted to add Dr. Yazami to our Advisory Board, and VIASPACE will benefit from his service."
