VIASPACE Press Release
VIASPACE Energy Builds Global Distribution with Agreements in Japan, Korea and China
08/29/2007
PASADENA, CA.-August 29, 2007-VIASPACE Inc. (OTCBB: VSPC), a company that transforms proven space and defense technologies from NASA and the Department of Defense into hardware and software solutions, announced today that has entered into distribution agreements for its laser based HS-1000 VIASENSOR relative humidity instrument with Hohsen Corporation of Japan, Scitech of Korea and Horizon Fuel Cells of the People's Republic of China. These distributors have also purchased units which have been shipped.
Hohsen Corporation is a distributor of high technology products including fuel cell and battery test stations to both companies and universities in Japan. Scitech Corporation distributes fuel cell test stations in Korea, and Horizon distributes fuel cell products in China. VIASPACE is discussing additional distribution agreements with companies in England, India, Israel and Taiwan.
The performance of hydrogen fuel cells using a Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) depends on the moisture level of the membrane. The membrane only conducts protons when it is hydrated or moist. The moisture is provided by water vapor in the incoming air or hydrogen stream. The VIASPACE HS-1000 instrument provides real-time measurements of the amount of water vapor in these gas streams.
VIASPACE CEO Carl Kukkonen stated "Hohsen Corporation, Scitech and Horizon Fuel Cells are well-known companies, and we are proud have them as global distributors of VIASPACE Energy products. Our early shipments of the VIASENSOR to these distribution partners should speed up their efforts to help other companies optimize fuel cell designs, as well as to provide a quality measurement of projected performance of units on the production line."
